Thermal building physics

Comfort, Efficiency, and Safety

Thermal building physics is a key discipline in the development of energy-efficient, comfortable and sustainable buildings. By comprehensively considering the physical principles that affect buildings and their envelopes, it ensures effective thermal and moisture protection in both winter and summer.

In addition to the energy performance of the building envelope, the characteristics of a building’s mechanical and electrical systems play a decisive role in its overall energy efficiency and, consequently, its future energy demand and consumption.

Thanks to our holistic approach and interdisciplinary expertise, we have a comprehensive understanding of all factors that influence the optimisation of a building.

wpw combines expertise in building physics with practical experience. This enables us to develop solutions that not only meet the relevant requirements but also enhance comfort and preserve the value of buildings over the long term.

Our approach

We analyse new and existing buildings and identify alternative courses of action. Using modern calculation and simulation methods, we prepare compliance documentation in accordance with the German Building Energy Act (GEG), carry out thermal bridge calculations and identify potential weaknesses. At the same time, we ensure that energy-efficiency measures are economically viable and technically feasible.
